Hall of Famers from the 1950's and 1960's such as Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemtente, Bob Gibson, Frank Robinson and more were winding down their careers and the next generation of stars like Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Robin Yount, Dennis Eckersley were just getting started. Other players like Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, and Thurman Munson were in the prime of their careers.
